Today I had a pretty surreal experience as I watched Flight Of The Navigator for the first time in about 21 years. If you've never heard of this movie, it's about a kid who goes on space travel without knowning it. He gets back to earth only to find out 8 years had gone by, but he had hadn't aged.
I remember the first time I saw this movie was at a friend's house down the street. After that first time, my brothers and I would go over to their house EVERYDAY and watch it after school. I'm sure we wore out their vhs tape (yes you heard right...TAPE). It was just such a magical movie and I think we all wanted to fly around in that spaceship. :) Or maybe it was that "Max" adopted the Pee-Wee Herman style of talk during the movie that we liked. After we finished watching the movie, I remember we'd spend HOURS playing "Ant's In My Pants" and my favorite "Don't Break The Ice". Just to go home and do it all over again the next day. Crazy.
Just to put it into perspective, I was 8 years old when this movie came out (¡ay dios mio!). Sarah Jessica Parker was in the movie, which of course not having seen the movie in so long isn't something I remembered. She was 21 at the time and still sported that Square Pegs hair. hahahaha! And now I've rewatched it 21 years later.
Long Live Flight Of The Navigator!
