Hm, the annual Baldwin School Alumni Xmas party :) There were people there from the '91 class all the way through the recent grads. This was my 10 year class reunion...out of 40 classmates, only like 7 showed up :) GO BALDWIN! hahaha. It was cool...from what I remember. Too much vodka. Actually, I had a drink to try to alieviate the pain from my toe. Yes, it's still messed up and this was the first time I wore shoes since Dec 13th. Shoes have stopped being my friend. So I drank lots and don't remember leaving the party. Lovely.
I know Suhail drove me home, that's about it...Gracias Suhail. :)

Whatever...enjoy the pictures. I need a nap.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

December 24, 2005

I thought this was pretty interesting. Back in August I wrote about my room. Basically, it was all about how my room would wake me up super early because of the bright colors and the sun coming in through the windows. http://suzy.dabu.com/1/1695_Bright_And_Early

Well, recently a comment was posted on there saying that my site came up on a search for Susie Bright (or Suzie Bright). Ok, cool.

Susie Bright...the name sounded semi familiar, so of course I googled it. :) Ok, there were almost 2 million sites that mentioned her. Turns out that she's a lesbian sexpert writer, performer, educator etc. Interesting. I still don't know why or from where her name seemed familiar, but by the looks of her resume she's everywhere. So that was an interesting and funny connection going on there. :)

I started celebrating my birthday on monday night, Dec.12th. Pepo called me and said there was this bartender show going on at some hotel. So a couple of us went. The show was kind of boring, so we left. We ended up at this sports bar called Hot Wings and then we went to this other sports bar called Double Team.

Tuesday, Dec.13th - My Birthday! I started getting bday calls at 2am. That was cool because I was completely awake from being at the bar. Thank you to everyone who called/emailed me and wished me well that day. I was very popular :) So at night a couple of us went to this bar called Moorings. There was this party...2 drinks for the price of one all night. At one point the outside bartender says to me "You look familiar...I think I know you". I sure as hell didn't recognize him. Turns out that he used to live in my old neighborhood. He actually lived in the upstairs part of the house infront of mine. Yeah, I still don't recognize him...bad memory. :) Later that night we went to this other bar called Zero and ate some food. Got home at 5am.

Like I said, I wasn't going to let my messed up toe get in the way of having fun on my bday. Great 2 day celebration I'd say. :)

A toe update:

Yesterday, instead of resting and taking it easy I was walking all over the place. I know, I know...not good for the swelling. I wasn't really walking, it was more of a wobble effect going on. I almost fell in the shower. I missed stepped and saw pain stars, but I was able to balance it out. :) I couldn't really move it because it was swollen, but I didn't want to either because every joint in my pinky toe hurts.

I had my father check out my toe and I described every painful detail of the event. The conclusion was that I definitely dislocated it and managed to pop it back into place in that one swift motion. I can laugh about it now, but if I really think about it the whole thing it makes my stomach curl and I have to close my eyes. Today, the toe is better. I can move it around more, but I still look retarded walking around. I tried to take a picture to capture the bruising. This is the best one:

If you look closely, you can tell that the bruising actually goes from the 3rd toe to the pinky toe end. Also, there's a small red dot on my pinky toe. That's complemets of a fire ant that bit me yesterday at my aunt's house. If there was any doubt about how jack'd up my toe is, now you know I was telling the truth.

Just in case, this isn't going to stop me from celebrating my birthday tomorrow. HELL NO! I'm just going to have to be extra careful that I don't get stepped on. It's a good challege. :)

Last night ended up being a very long night. Originally it was just going to be a chill night out...nothing wild and that was pretty much accomplished, but I have to stop going to bed at 6am :) I ran into someone I didn't want to see so that put a bit of a damper on things, but overall fun night. Drink count: 5 rum & cokes and 2 long islands...after that I don't think I drank anything.

I think this picture describes the night well:

This was taken from an email I wrote about what happened to me today:

I am in so much pain right now. I'm going to try to
describe to you what I did that caused me so much
pain.

I was walking towards the kitchen. We have the kitchen
blocked so the dogs don't pee all over the house so
there's a screen actually that we slide over and then
you can go into the kitchen. At the one side of the
entrance there's a grandfather clock. The screen was a
bit open already and I went to walk through, but I
pretty much left my right pinky toe behind me because
I smashed the hell out of against the grandfather
clock. I managed to smash it and since my foot was
still going forward my toe went backwards and
sideways. PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! The toes aren't meant to
bend like that!

I heard my toe go snap, crackle and pop! Seriously, I
thought I had broken it, it popped so loudly....either
that or it felt like it got dislocated man. It
literally made that popping sound 3 times in a span of
a second.

It happened so fast that the only thing that came out
of my mouth was "COÑO!!!!!!" and I fell to the ground.
I had pain going up and down my poor little toe...from
the joint to the tip. I couldn't move it dude. It was
so painful that I was sitting there on the verge of
tears. Trying to calm down and figure out if I broke
my toe was hard :)

I didn't break it, but it's majorly bruised at the
bottom joint. It doesn't hurt when I pull it upwards,
but it HU-HU-HU-HURTS when I push it downwards. Now
I'm walking all funny. That's just great...just what I
needed. It's throbbing something crazy right now.

It was a good thing that I had drank some kool-aid 'cause without that sugar, I would've totally passed out from the pain.
So what have we learned today? Watch your step 'cause you might lose a toe.

Uhm, so...what do you think of the gianormous tree my father bought this year? I'm 5'2''. This thing is twice my height.

December 1, 2005

Oh Sh*t! The countdown begins...12 days left till my 28th birthday. What will I do to celebrate? Dunno yet. Dec. 13th lands on a tueday. That's not really a festive day of the week. We'll see.

Now this is funny. I am going to be a year older soon and a few days ago I received a letter from AARP. That's the American Association of Retired Persons. This is a thing for people over 50 years old yet they believe I qualify. I don't just qualify, as it says in the letter, "Our records show that you haven't yet registered for the benefits of AARP membership, even though you are fully eligible". I'm FULLY ELIGIBLE! hehehe. Uhm, ok.

Thanx to everyone (DJ, Silvi, Mike, etc) for all the good wishes and ideas on how to get better faster from this cold. Thanx to DJ for mentioning Zicam. I looked it up and well, decided against getting it. It sounds like a good product, but I don't really like shooting stuff up my nose. Of couse, Mike said that I needed to drink more, but I decided to take regular meds, lots of fuilds and sweat the cold away through exercise. :) It's all good.

Is anyone else freaked out or disturbed by the Burger King ads?

Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against BK or their ads. I just think that the big king head is so strange. The first commercial was the one where the guy wakes up with the oversized BK head man staring at him in bed and offers him a breakfast sandwich. If I ever woke up with something like that staring at me, punches and kicks would be flying all over the place. The latest ad I saw was where the King was working on a high beam construction site and he slowly and casually looks over at the worker. FREAKY! It's not just the abnormally large king head that weirds me out. It's also that smiling expression he has. It's like something out of a horror movie! "Hi, I'm the King...have some food...I'm going to kill you now...hahaha!" Come to think about it, the King does 'playfully' shove the beam worker at the end causing him to lose his balace and almost fall. Of course they laughed at the end, but you never know...maybe he did really want to kill him. ;)

Maybe it's just me, but I find those ads freaky and yet I can't look away when they come on.

This sucks. I feel like I'm going to get sick. 2 days ago, I woke up feeling not so good. I still have my tonsils so anytime that I get sick I first feel it in my throat. Uncomfortable pressure turns into a sore and scratchy throat which later turns into a cough. Then it moves north and that's when it really sucks. I don't want to get sick so I'm trying to prevent that by taking medicine now. I know some friends would say to get drunk because they believe the alcohol kills the germs, but that doesn't work for me :)

The last time I was sick was January. I was in NJ with the family and we all caught this life sucking flu my cousin had. It started on new years and I was ill for the rest of the month. Worst vacation ever.

Cooking for last night's dinner actually started on the 23rd. There were beans being cooked and homemade cookies being baked. There's always lots of food at our thanksgiving dinners...there's lots fo people to feed. :) We always have dinner with my mother's side of the family. So there's always lots of cousins and now most of them are married with kids so it's an always growing family.

This year we had 3 turkeys (1 rotissery, 1 stewed and 1 boneless-stuffed turkey), 2 hams, arroz con gandules, white rice, salad, beans, potato salad and many desserts. Dinner definitely left people in food comas.
