Recently I noticed that I don't have a cell phone signal in the places where I used to have one inside my house. So I tried different places downstairs and this statue is the only place I have a bar...just enough for it to ring, but not to talk. I still have to go outside to use my phone. The statue is made of bronze metal so that seems to help it.
(I don't know...to me it seems that Sprint's signal strength hasn't gotten any better since the Nextel merger. Seems to have gotten worse actually.)
Hahaha! So, if anyone calls me just know that if it rings, I might not be able to get my phone out of around this woman statues legs and go outside in time. Just leave me a voicemail, I'll call ya back :)

Today I went to Guayama with my parents and with my brother's Hector and Jorge. Hector had never seen the golf course. After a couple of snacks we all hopped on the golf cart and went for a drive. I think they'd just cut the grass because I had so much crap flying into my eyes, it was getting annoying. My father then decides to stop at a couple of holes since there was no one playing on them. It was hiliarious. He was like "Watch this it's going to be really hard". He sets up and does hit the ball hard, but straight into the water. This happened a couple of times and I couldn't stop laughing. :)
We then went to the only restaurant that we saw open. I wasn't particularly hungry, but I ate some breaded chicken that tasted like donuts. Has anyone had something like that? It was weird and definitely not a good combination of tastes. I certainly didn't finish it, but I still ended up with a stomach ache anyway. Weird. That was a doughNOT!

Friends,
You know how you guys hear this one particular loud noise at night when you're talking to me on the phone? Well, this is the little tree frog called Coqui that makes that big noise. They're really small. The biggest one I've seen is probably about the size of the first section of my thumb.

COQUI!! COQUI!! COQUI!!

Black Eyed Peas had their concert last night here in PR. It was a great show, pretty much the best live show I've seen in a long time. There was no over the top stage design, no pyrotecnics, no dancers...they kept it simple with just them. Actually that's all you need. They're like 4 energizer bunnies on stage. :)
I hadn't planned on going to the concert (I'm not a big B.E.P. fan). My thursday night consisted of listening to some Goldfrapp, watching ER and maybe a movie. Then Natalia, a friend, called asking if I wanted to go because she had an extra ticket. So I went. Where were we sitting? 3rd row from the stage BABY! You don't say no to a free concert 3rd row from the front! Cool show and while I was taking pictures I sort of noticed that Will.i.am was looking at Natalia. So at the end of the show this dude comes up to her and says "William wants to meet you". So we went backstage and chatted for a while. He was all surprised that I don't have an accent. I was like, "Well, I've been speaking english since I was like 2".
His focus was all on her and I just laughed at the randomness of the entire night. Apl.de.ap also walked by and said hi to us. No Fergie or Taboo backstage sighting though, sorry. Fergie actually came out of her dressing room as we left. You know, for not having anything planned, last night turned out pretty awesome :)

I'm guessing that most of everyone has heard of, knows of or is a part of Friendster by now. If you don't, it's a way to connect with people, like a 6 degrees of separation deal and it can also be used to find dates or people who like the same stuff you do...whatever. http://www.friendster.com
Anyway, they have all sorts of stuff on there now like your daily horoscope.
This is what mine says today:
The Bottom Line
Don't waste time waiting for permission. The outcome's up to you.
In Detail
Someone you've been just dying to confide in -- to confide your really deep, really meaningful feelings to -- is absolutely wide open to those feelings right now. The time is right for you to sit down, have a nice, long chat with that person and subtly work your way toward the topic you want to cover. Oh, and don't be surprised if they open the discussion before you do.
WHAT???!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Horoscopes are retarded.
Yes, I must confide in someone RIGHT NOW! Is it you? Or maybe you? Or maybe the person behind you. Give me a break!
So, who wants to chat? :p

Yesterday was a day full of celebrations. We spent the day in Aibonito (the town where most of my family lives) with aunts, uncles, cousins, baby cousins and lots of other people.
The first party was a combo celebration. It was the birthday party for my cousin's son Yaret and the welcome home celebration for her husband Omar. He had just gotten back the night before after spending a year in Iraq. There was a moving speech given by one of the fraternity brothers that brought pretty much everyone to tears when he said that his son has been in Iraq for 5 years and still has a year and a
half to go.
After that celebration, we went to my other cousin's son's bday. We got there late, so there was no cake left :) We spent some time with the family and by 5:30pm we had to head back home. To get in and out of Aibonito you have to drive through the mountains. And since it's "winter" time, it gets darker earlier, colder and rainier which translates into foggy mountain roads. Those just aren't fun. We also stopped by Cayey, dropped off my cousin Mariela and visited with my other cousin Santos, his wife Jaqueline and their 11 month of baby girl. Isn't she cute?!
It definitely was a full family day.

I didn't do it! It wasn't me, I swear!
No, this has to do with my previous blog entry. The plumber ended coming over yesterday and fixing the outside faucet in like 2 seconds. After that my parents showed him the leaky faucet in this tub. He tried to fix it, but the problem ended up being the pipes. Today they broke through the wall and this is what the tub looked like this afternoon. Lovely :)
This is the view from the toilet :)

Last night one of my brother's noticed that one of the outside faucets was broken. Apparently it broke on friday and it's been letting water out since then. Great.
So I called a plumber last night...supposed to 24hr service and he still hasn't shown up. Typical. He called last night to say he'd be by this moring. If he does show up, I'm sure it'll be in the afternoon. Is there water pouring out of the faucet now? No. We turned the main water line off, so now there's NO water in the entire house. We did that last night, but before we shut it off we all took showers and washed the dishes. So atleast we're clean.
Oh and also, the dryer stopped working last night too! I don't know what's going on. :)

Last night I went to La Placita with Antonio and Andrea. They really want to kill you at that place with the
way they make their drinks. The first drink I had was almost pure vodka with just a hint of OJ for coloring and full up to the rim. It was quite strong, but after all the partying in Fl and Va my liver was like "Bring it on!" :) j/k.
It was a calm night really...just shootin' the sh*t, having a couple of drinks and then it rained. Also, La Placita is always packed and hot so the rain didn't help things. It just made it hotter when it stopped. Whatever. The street there can get sort of gross and trashed, just check out the picture below. Why so much trash? Well, I think it's a combo of tons of people, lots of bars and the lack of actual trash cans around the area. Unfortunately, I had to place my cup on the street too when we left because there was no trash can around! Yes, I contributed to the mess, but not in this trash pile.

Nasty...and this is after the cleaning crew picked up half of what was on the floor.

On my last afternoon in DC (Nov. 1, '05), I hung out with Carol and her sister at the mall. We had lunch and walked around. It was such a nice day outside. It didn't even seem like it had been down to the 30's the days before.
The Washington Monument is finally free of the enclosement it was surrounded by. Of course, it probably was fixed a while ago, but the last time I saw it, it was not accessible. We saw ducks at the
WW II Memorial fountain. Those ducks were a little freaky...they just casually walked right up to my feet. I guess they're used to getting food from tourists or something.
We also visited the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial which is my favorite and finally, the Lincoln Memorial. It was great afternoon in DC.

I'm glad to say that I made it back to Puerto Rico in one piece. I got here last night after being in 3 different planes in a 10 hour time frame. Craziness.
I flew out of Orlando, Fl so obviously there were many kids and babies on my flight. They were all well behaved which surprised me. However, on 2 separate occasions the smell of soiled pampers filled the airplane. The smell was so potent that it woke people up!
I'm still a little tired today from all the flying, but it was all worth the great time I had with everyone in Tampa, DC and Virginia :) I miss you guys and till next year!
Long live Dabu Halloween!!!

Excellent party! OMFG! The objectives were met: Party, drink, get crunk and have fun! Uhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh!!!!!!!!
The party was so much fun and SO MANY PEOPLE!. There must have been close to 100 people there. And no cops were called...YES! It was hilarious having people not know what I was dressing up as and then coming out in the sumo outfit. I have bad news though...sumo is dead. At the end of the party, the fan stopped working. I opened up the fan and saw that I pulled a wire off one of the sodders so it's an easy fix. I just have to find someone who can fix it. :)
I did accidentally hit my forehead on the brick wall at the end of the night. Oops. It's all good though. Great party!

Yet another reason to like the month of October: Candy Corn!

I love Candy Corn. It's one of my favorite candies and I only allow myself to eat them during October. The fact is that the rest of the year they're sort of harder to find since it's known as a Halloween candy. Even so, I just eat them once a year and that's enough. I love them, but if you eat too much of the corn, it will give you a stomach ache :)
I'm not a big fan of the Autumn Mix, but the orginial is great. The pumkins are good also. One time someone told me that they didn't like Candy Corn because they didn't taste like anything. Of course it has taste...taste like Candy Corn :) Very sweet, honey tasting treat.
